Colorado law allows qualified patients to have access to marijuana for medical purposes. In 2000, Colorado voters approved Amendment 20 which allows patients suffering from cancer, multiple sclerosis, HIV/AIDS, severe pain, and other serious debilitating diseases to use marijuana to treat their illnesses. Qualified patients can possess up to 2 ounces of loose marijuana and up to 6 marijuana plants with 3 or fewer being mature. In addition, patients can identify primary caregivers to provide them their medicine.
